It’s that time of year when we are looking for folks to serve on the congregation council. Our church council is a wonderfully dedicated group of people who work with our pastors and staff to see that the ministry of the congregation happens faithfully. The council hears reports from our various committees, keeps a wise eye on the finances and physical needs of our church, and has the ultimate responsibility to see that all we do is done in consistency with the grace of God and teaching of the church. Did you know that our congregation council pauses for prayer in the middle of every meeting? Did you know that our council will be bringing a set of vision goals to the congregation for their support in December? Did you know that our council is eager to hear new ideas and streamline red tape?
The meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings rarely go past 8:30 p.m. Each council member is asked to be a liaison with a standing committee. Some committees meet monthly while others meet on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis.
Is God calling you to a deeper role of leadership? If so, the council may be the place for you! It isn’t a scary place….it is a place of deep care and compassion. You would be among a group of people who care about the past, present and future of Grace Lutheran Church! Consider stepping forward to be a part of the leadership of this active church! If you are interested in considering service on council, please talk with one of the pastors or current council members.
