The Social Ministry Committee is looking for volunteers who can help out with and eventually coordinate the Fair Trade Coffee Ministry here at Grace. As most of you know, the Social Ministry Committee sponsors our Fair Trade Coffee Ministry, originally known as the Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project. We have been involved with Fair Trade here at Grace since around 1986, when we started serving Fairly Traded Coffee to the folks who hung out in the kitchen on Sunday mornings while their kids attended Sunday School. The project transitioned into a ministry as we expanded into the Gathering Spaces and also provided coffee at many of our dinners and fund-raising events.

We’re looking for a few volunteers who would like to get involved with this ministry on a regular basis. Primary responsibilities would include setting up and selling the Fairly Traded Products on the first and third weekends of each month, keeping the display case stocked up with coffee, chocolate, etc., and coordinating the making and selling of the Fair Trade Christmas Gift Baskets during Advent.

Involvement in the Fair Trade Coffee Ministry provides a wonderful opportunity for Fellowship and Ministry right here at Grace. It also provides much needed support for Equal Exchange and SERRV International, the two Fair Trade Organizations from where we purchase our products, and Lutheran World Relief, to whom we have contributed thousands of dollars over the years.
